Mixing data with community knowledge

Much of computing is structured around the hierarchy of data:information:knowledge.  Adding structure to data makes it information, using this information in context makes it knowledge.  Atthe DoTT07 Festival , the Landscape/Portrait project adds further layers to this – experience, and the combined expression of this. Visitors to the Vital Signs area are asked to leave a short video of themselves responding to questions about their community and landscape.  These messages, almost uniformly heartwarming (family, friends, daily living are all at the forefront) are contrasted with the formal descriptions and statistical data.
